Barangay 2 chief lauds cops
By Roberto L. Bacasong

* Village chief says he has talked with Senior Insp. Clarence Dongail, Police Station 2 commander, whom barangay officials earlier tagged as "persona non grata", about the project

Sebastian Mendoza, village head of Barangay 2 in Bacolod City, backs the seal-off project of the Bacolod City Police Office in his barangay.

Mendoza said the local police's seal-off operation also received positive response among his constituents.

He added that since the seal-off was started last Sept. 25, the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area decreased.

Mendoza also promised Senior Supt. George Bajelot, city police director, that his village officials would cooperate with local police.

They have "our full support," Mendoza assured Bajelot.

Mendoza further said he also talked with Senior Insp. Clarence Dongail, Police Station 2 commander, whom barangay officials earlier tagged as "persona non grata", about the project.

He added he would coordinate with village officials of Barangay 1 on reports that drug users and couriers are diverting their operation to the adjacent village.

Bajelot said he would also place Barangay 1 under the seal-off project to monitor the illegal drug activities in the area.

Six members of the 603rd Regional Mobile Group were deployed in the area together with operatives of Police Station 2, Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit.

He reiterated that maximum tolerance would be enforced in Barangay 2, tagged as Bacolod's "shabu country."

Bajelot also lauded the residents' effort to help police in the seal-off project.

He said the village might be declared drug-free soon.
